Kazimierz Dolny nad Wisłą
One of the most picturesque places in Poland, Kazimierz Dolny has always attracted artists for many reasons.
One of the reasons is certainly generosity of nature, favouring this small town with hills, waters of the River Vistula and a sky similar to that seen over the Mediterranean, but this space has been equally abundantly equipped by the history- its course, through glamour to ruins, has left evidence of art in the form of historical architecture whose situation within the landscape created a natural motive for painting. Kazimierz appeared as a unique place for plain-air painting, visited by Brandt, Gierymski and Ślewiński.
